2-month Residency with MODINA in Talinn, Estonia for Temporal Spaces, a choreogaphic spatial installation in collaboration with COSA MENTALE.
Step into an immersive dance world with Max Levy and Celia Bétourné’s Temporal Spaces, a multimedia installation that empowers the audience to become the dancer, choreographer, and viewer of their own iterative choreographic work. The project emphasizes the interplay between the seen and the unseen, creating unique zones with distinct rules and feedback triggers that allow the audience to interact and play with movement generation through visual and acoustic feedback. With no professional performers, the project highlights the active role of the audience in producing a collective visualization of movement captured in space. Leveraging affordable arrays of webcams as infrared sensors and AI to parse data through facial, body, and object recognition, the project merges the audience’s curiosity and playfulness with AI’s own playful interpretations of movement to archive real-time, iterative interactivity as visualized choreography. Alternating between phases of interaction and observation, the installation encourages the witnessing of self to iterate further on collective inquiry in an immersive environment.
